Cattle
Egret. 2005
Bird is done with a combination of pine and basswood mounted on a walnut base to
reflect the back of the cattle it could be found riding around on in
fields. Painted using traditional and airbrushing with acrylics.
Male
Gold Finch 2004. Carved in Tupelo and painted acrylics. The Goldfinch
changes color in the winter to an olive green. Females stay the drab
color all year.
Female
Cardinal 2003
Carved slick style with Basswood and Tupelo on a Walnut base painted in
acrylics. One foot is tucked into the breast showing the toes. During
the mating season the male will pass seeds to the female looking like they are
kissing. GONE.
Tufted Titmouse 2003
During courtship the male feeds the female much like the cardinals do. The song
is similar to Peter, Peter, Peter. The call can be very scolding jwee jwee
jwee. Carved in Basswood on pine branch attached to a oak base 7 inches
high and painted with acrylics. GONE.
Know for creeping upside down opposite of a wood pecker. Carved in Basswood and painted in acrylics. Mounted to set as a picture on a table. GONE.
GOSHAWK
2002
Accipiter family found in Northern range of North America. Migrates south
when food becomes scarce. Staple food is the grouse.
Carving done with Tupelo mounted on cherry and painted with acrylics. GONE
SUSQUEHANNA
EGRET. Acrylic painting. One of the biggest rookeries is located
just south of the 81 bridge located on the Susquehanna River. The original
is located in the artist portfolio however, 25 prints were made and donated to
the Historical Society of

hunting along roads pursuing insects and small rodents. The original is
located in the artist portfolio however, 25 prints were made and donated to the Historical

This is a water color painted for use as a Christmas card. TWO CARDINALS and a GOSHAWK foraging for food as the winter night comes. The original is located in the artist portfolio.
This
is a watercolor of a Georgia landscape. A RED SHOULDER HAWK hunts
in the background. This was a gift to a good friend and fellow birder.
This
is an acrylic painting of an AVOCET. This was the first attempt at flat
art. Prior to this primarily a carver and was doing a few
sweatshirts as gifts. This leap from carving to painting flat work is
attributed to the artist's wife who when asked if she wanted a shirt ask for
something she could put in a frame..
This
wood carving of a cardinal with feather detail carved in sugar pine is owned by the artist.
This
sparrow was one of the first carvings with texture and is owned by the artist.
When the artist finished this bird he cupped in his hand and asked his wife to
see what he found outside. She jumped back thinking it was real.
